Fly by nightPosted By: Gemma on 03/03/09
The much-mourned closure of The End back in January left a huge gaping hole in London’s nightlife scene, with various valiant attempts to plug it currently emerging out of the vacuum. One such proposal comes from our old End muckers Ajay and Ryan, who have secured Friday nights at the recently refurbished Arches venue in London Bridge for their new We Fear Silence series of parties: things are all set to kick off this Friday 6th March with the inaugural event from Buzzin’ Fly.
And although not on the flyer above, the We Fear Silence website does reveal another familiar name amongst the list of guests this Friday night: a blast from the past in the form of one Adam Carter, who used to do the lights at the infamous Passion in Coalville back in the days of James’ ill-advised trance club residency, and later drove James to a few gigs. So hopefully there will be a chance to catch up with him when I head along to check out The Arches in action this Friday: during our last visit for the Mogwai after-show party back in October things were chaotic to say the least, but considering Ajay and Ryan’s impeccable End pedigree we trust that things will run a little more smoothly under the new We Fear Silence administration. If you can’t make it down on Friday, Chew The Fat! will be the next team to christen the venue on March 27th when Herve is the special guest (and another BC-guest-that-got-away, Lo Recordings‘ Cursor Miner, is tucked away in Room 2), before We Fear Silence goes regular every Friday at The Arches from April 17th. Keep it noisy. Tags: Holden |
