Holden - Renata : Out 10/06/13 Posted By: Gemma on 22/05/13
On the eve of the release of James Holden’s eagerly anticipated new album The Inheritors, the appetite-whetting arpeggio extravaganza Renata single trumpets his return with a pair of special remixes from Holden-endorsed synth luminaries Daphni and Steve Moore.
Caribou mainman Dan Snaith puts on his DJ-friendly Daphni hat to return the Holden remix favour with the sort of idiosyncratic blend of pitched-about vocals, fidgety garage revival beats and psychedelic synths that only he can get away with. Zombi band man and L.I.E.S. affiliated synth superstar Steve Moore meanwhile takes the flipside in an altogether more smooth direction, with a decidedly deep rework that places everything in its right New Age place.
Released on highly collectable marbled grey 10″ vinyl (remixes only) and all digital formats on 10th June: pre-order your own mystical vinyl artefact from Bleep today.

James Holden All Night Long @ Corsica Studios, London, UK : 15th June 2013 Posted By: Gemma on 12/05/13
We’re thrilled to announce that James Holden will be launching his highly anticipated second album ‘The Inheritors’ with an event on 15 June at London’s Corsica Studios (where else?). To mark his first release in seven years, James himself will be playing the main room all night, presenting a rare opportunity to get seriously acquainted with the depths of his extensive collection.
Room two is entrusted to the tender care of the Huntleys & Palmers Audio Club, transporting their Glaswegian Highlife concept for its first London outing, with Holden-approved favourites Awesome Tapes From Africa and the live stylings of Heatsick joining the Highlife residents to provide a tantalising counterpoint to Holden’s all night long explorations. Tickets are on sale now from Resident Advisor.
‘The Inheritors’ is due out on 17 June via Holden’s own Border Community label, and Holden will continue his all night long celebrations throughout the summer with a series of special sets at some of his favourite European clubs:

Holden - Gone Feral : Out Now Posted By: Gemma on 29/04/13
A tantalising first glimpse of the delights contained in James Holden’s eagerly awaited forthcoming album ‘The Inheritors’ is delivered up in mystical 12” vinyl and digital form: Gone Feral’s chaotic bursts of modular synth pulse and throb in a free-wheeling hypnotic mantra to usher in the end of the world.
The ‘Gone Feral’ single release gets the trademark Holden DJ tool treatment for the creative DJ’s layering pleasure: the self-explanatory ‘Drumtool’ seeks to beat dancefloors into proto-industrial pagan submission, whilst the ‘Synthtool’ leaves Holden’s vibrant synth modulations to sing unconstrained. ‘Gone Feral’ is the first of three collectable companion 12”s which deconstruct Holden’s album originals into the type of dancefloor-focused tool that he finds so useful in his own soaringly ambitious multi-layered key-matched DJ sets.
The digital format triumvirate of MP3 / FLAC / WAV are available right away from online emporiums like Bleep, Boomkat and Beatport, with the fabled magical vinyl set to materialise in your local record shop over the coming weeks.
"The evening was billed as part of, “…a season of events that explore, and are inspired by, the human brain.” The British musician James Holden was providing sound throughout the show, culminating in a live performance with invited band members." Posted By: Gemma on 06/04/13
"Holden fires off an untamable beast that is raw as well as filigree, unpredictable, straight and dramatic." Posted By: Gemma on 02/04/13
“Back when I was using modular software I came up with this method of making feedback systems – trying to breathe chaos and unpredictability into the instruments I built – and the modular is even more perfect for that." Posted By: Gemma on 29/03/13
"It's a pretty uncompromising slab of modular synths that fills your head with strobe lights and visions of what it would be like to live inside another dimension." Posted By: Gemma on 26/03/13
"It makes for a maddeningly, almost excessively brilliant listen." Posted By: Gemma on 26/03/13
